Moving into a PG for the first time is a big step — whether you’re starting college, your first job, or just relocating. A PG offers independence, but also brings new responsibilities. If you're stepping into this life for the first time, here's what you should know to adjust smoothly and avoid common mistakes.
Respect Shared Spaces
In a PG, some spaces — like corridors, washrooms, dining areas — are shared. Keep them clean, be considerate, and avoid loud late-night activity. It builds mutual respect and a friendly living atmosphere.
Pack Smart, Not Heavy
Don’t overpack. Most PGs (like Moms International PG) offer furnished rooms with beds, wardrobes, fans, lights, and even washing machines on each floor. Bring essentials: clothes, personal toiletries, a few utensils, and a small lock for personal drawers.
Set a Personal Routine Early
PG life can be social, but routines keep you grounded. Fix a study or work schedule, meal times, and sleeping hours early on. It helps you stay balanced, even in a shared living setup.
Get to Know the Staff
Introduce yourself to the PG staff — they help with maintenance, meals, housekeeping, and day-to-day needs. A good relationship with them makes your stay smoother.
If something isn’t working — WiFi, food, room issues — don’t hesitate to report it. A well-run PG will always be open to feedback and act quickly, just like we do at Moms.
Speak Up When Needed
Living in a PG is a unique mix of independence and community. The first few days might feel different, but give it time — and choose a PG that actually cares about your comfort. At Moms International PG, we’ve guided hundreds through their first-time stay — and we’re here to do the same for you.
